Why Bobbing?

The name Bobbing Along was inspired by a song from the animated underwater scene in one of my favourite childhood films Bedknobs and Broomsticks (1971), as well as the general idea that a scuba diver with the perfect balance of air and water in their vest bobs along in the middle of the blue.

My childhood experiences with open water have been continuously influential in my so-called adult decisions, including starting a blog about all things nautical, culturally coastal, finned and flippered. Furthermore, I find the name appropriate for my current state of mind and living situation in Edinburgh, contemplating how to get my head out of the clouds and back underwater.

This blog is my doodle pad, which I use for drawing my conclusions, opinions – and actual drawings as well – whilst calmly bobbing along through life’s endless questions, options for a Masters,  and an exit strategy from a mediocre waitressing job, hoping to figuratively soak up bits of culture along the way.
